The best way to remember what you have read

Looking at the stack of books piled up on the study shelf, I am left to wonder, gosh! How much of the things I have read do I ACTUALLY remember? Curbing the existential anxiety, I guess the best way to remember what you have read is to show a keen interest in what you are reading. In the moment, how in tune are you with the words that you gleen over. Is the author making sense? Are you able to connect with the printed ink? Are you circling around some lines more often trying to relate it with previous readings Otherwise, why read that stuff in the first place. The above line is both a lesson in rigid thinking and hyper-practical. I am a habitual reader and a habitual forgetter. Forgetting things all the time gives me used to give me a sour sense of remorse. And then one day, over a conversation with a friend, he suggests, why don't you instead think of it as "You learn something new every time, every day". he then goes to add, "Fine! You may not rememb...

A Rhythm to do stuff

is the most important thing is the best that can happen Is what every self-help article will ever suggest you to do. I do not wish to be a whistleblower of sorts when I say this. But that's just my gut instinct. They why is it so tough? It is because in the age we live in instant gratification is given top most priority. Our brains shun the repetitiveness of things, claiming "what's the point!" That's where the 'Why, I started this' question becomes important. 4 years ago, on a cozy Sunday afternoon, I had decided to go to the gym and do something about my body. On the way, I remember getting bombarded by my inner voice "Dude, you don't know anything, what will you even do there" "You will injure yourself" "Treadmill? what if it's already taken?" Funny enough, none of those things happened, except for the treadmill being taken. But, I still worked out. Rusty form, no idea what I was doin...

The Internet has, but also

The internet is a place where we get to learn a lot of stuff. These days you can learn how to fix (insert whatever it is that you want to fix here) over on the hyper fast net In villages, many where internet has just come to life, it has given birth to innovative methods of generating electricity, waste disposal etc. In the cities, it tells me where Rajesh is exactly so that I can time my lift just in accordance to his exact arrival and be on my way to another day at the office. So in short internet has helped us quite a lot, to know exactly how much it has helped you can google - 'advancements due to the internet' In this post, I wanted to touch up on a rather dark side of the moon internet. Well, again this also has been discussed extensively through many articles and ted talks, one of which is this one -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C74amJRp730 - Digress ends here - One of the things that the internet does is, it makes me not want to call people to ask f...

The core that often gets missed

What core? Ok, According to me and a few medical journals, everyone is made up of cores We got a, Health core Family core Friends and bonding with people core Work core.., currently the one in most stress for many but... BUT, the core that often gets missed is, The Ego core, The more I read about the nature of Ego the more I  feel like I shouldn't This I is full of ego. Ya, back to point, Have you felt its presence? I sure have. I have felt its overwhelm too. Many with whom I have come to cross path with, humans, they deny its presence. They Shoo me off. I truly feel, Ego core needs a constant check. We all have ego cores, even the saints with often deceptive yet perpetual smiles have it. We need to take great care of it. What does the Ego core feed on? It feeds on instant gratification activities mainly also, Jealousy. Comparison and a little bit of self-hate. I used to think that the Ego core suuuuucks. But, it ...

Why is everyone honking? Here's why.

So I live in a big city. MUM-BAI. This city is big. I already mentioned that. Just warming you up. Ok, back to what my neurons meant to dispel. Cars. They are everywhere. Tempos and buses and tuk-tuks too. Mostly, this is a boon because? Helps in moving people and stuff like furniture and computers and whey protein most important. But, Drivers need to go easy on the honking! Everywhere you go in the city...peep-peep poop-poop at times peeeeeeeeeeeeeep at other times pooooooooooooooooop Also, some even invest in getting fancy peep-peep. Constant exposure to Peep-Peep does what? Well, I am no neuroscientist (but a big fan of Sam Harris) But, I can say this will 78.52% assurity that, Being exposed to constant peep-peep, activates that part of our brain which is responsible for detecting danger and giving us the sense that, we shouldn't be going there. Like a dark cave and stuff So when we navigate on the streets our minds constantly dabble in the ...

Cleaning things does what?

What happens when you start cleaning things. Like the dust settled in between the keys of your keyboard? (wait a second, there is dust settled in between the keys of my keyboard) Ok. So where were we? Ah! Cleaning. The place where I grew up to accidentally stamping on dog shit is Mumbai. Imp. Disclaimer: I am not from Bollywood, I am Bollywood. Mumbai is blessed with the occurrence of dust settling on your property, how much ever you may own. Your face is also your property BTW. If you travel in peak hours that's like from 5 am to 4 am, you will feel funny in the nose and your properties, like the back your phone cover slowly turning into a desert. While, I found travelling to be an unavoidable fate, at my home I do take up ownership of this dust. My tools are simple - a piece of cloth and a brush which saw the passage of my milk teeth at one point. So, every alternate day, I wake up a little early and get to cleaning. Cleaning the accessible areas and t...

The world's best anti-depressant is...

Changing your current state. Don't move out, not really necessary, not saying that. It is to just go from point A (where sadness persists) to point B (where it could still persist, but it also might not, and maybe you see something new) What's point A? It could be your room, It most likely is. Big room, small room, even smaller room don't really matter. Point A could also be your office. Again, swanky or  dull don't matter, It could also be the park that you wander about every day, Then, it's time for a new park. Point is, *preachy line incoming* Sadness persists in the mundane. Mundane exists in the obvious and obvious exists in certainty. (I just made that line up) You get this special power after reading 8 billion self-help articles, you become a walking and talking self-help article. That was a digress. Ok, Back to what I was saying, * I am one plain cheese toasted sandwich heavier at this point* Yeah, ok, So changing...
